Lauren Ruiz addresses ecological contamination, the excavation of natural resources, and the corrosive effects of human activity. Her research currently focuses on the amount of artificial plastics that exist within the human body at a cellular level, and on water scarcity and its relation to civil unrest.
The focus of the work questions non biodegradable materials and their social, biological, and political effects. The artist works within an apocalyptic narrative inspired by the glaring reality of our environmental crisis. Within the climate fiction, the artist questions the future of natural resources, particularly water, and what that means for human existence. |
